About the Program
As part of the Ms. Wheelchair America network of states, the Ms. Wheelchair
Nebraska Program offers women who use wheelchairs an opportunity
to receive recognition for personal and professional accomplishments
and to serve as a spokesperson for all people with disabilities.
The program's emphasis is on the capability, productivity and creativity
of individuals with disabilities. It serves as a means by which to
educate the public regarding the basic value and abilities of people
with disabilities, as well as the importance and need for eliminating
architectural barriers.
Our Mission
To provide an opportunity for women of achievement who utilize wheelchairs
to successfully educate and advocate for individuals with disabilities.
Qualifications
- Between the ages of 21 and 60
- Utilize a wheelchair for 100% of their daily community mobility
- Marital status is not a consideration
Entry fees are charged for each contestant. Fees may be paid by the contestant or by sponsors a contestant may solicit. Contestants are judged on their accomplishments, self perception, communication and projection skills in the following:
- Personal interviews
- Platform speech presentations
- On stage interviews
