August Report
Hello Everyone!
August has been an entirely new tempo for me and I feel like I am moving in slow motion. Since starting my reign, I have been multi-tasking at fundraising, speaking engagements, and planning for the Ms Wheelchair America Pageant. I am now looking at my calendar and wondering what I should do. I am not able to function when I am not over-scheduled. I got used to living at that speed. This year, I have each of my children attending a different school- so that means three different time schedules.
I will be establishing a new set of goals to strive for and will now juggle time and projects. I should be feeling back to normal soon. I have been participating in my new role as a Center For Independent Living Board member. I attended a Federal/State audit on the 6th and learned a lot about the high standards and expectations there are for performance in quality service. On the 21st, I attended another board meeting that introduced new software that will improve the efficiency of the documentation of cases and services.
I am excited to share that I am keeping in touch with many of the women I met at the MWA pageant through emails. I have so many dynamic new women that are genuine friends for life. With the pageant being so full of activities, we are finally getting to talk and learn about each otherŐs lives and how we have become who we are today. I am restless now and want to travel to network advocating and conferences in their states. Where there are two or more working together, there is "Power"! As you can tell, I am getting back into my focus on people and my passion to influence change. I will let you know what I have found to keep me busy in October.
