Toast to Ms. Wheelchair

Lincoln, NE – The Ms. Wheelchair Nebraska Program has announced its third annual fundraiser, "A Toast to Ms. Wheelchair Nebraska" to be held Thursday April 3, 2008 at the Downtown Holiday Inn (9 th & P Streets) starting at 7:00pm. The event, in addition to helping raise operating funds for the organization will help defray costs to send the titleholder to Nationals later this year. Festivities during the evening will include hors d'oeuvres, a silent auction, and a performance by Lincoln quartet "Ex Animo". Admission to the event is $10 at the door. State Coordinator Crystal Childers said "This is an excellent opportunity for everyone to get a chance to meet our 2008 Titleholder, as well as learn more about our unique organization." Lorinda Brown was crowned as Ms. Wheelchair Nebraska 2008 on October 13, 2007. The ceremony took place at the Interstate Holiday Inn in Grand Island, Nebraska. Lorinda is currently living in Grand Island with her three children and is self-employed as a writer. As part of the Ms. Wheelchair America network of states, the Ms. Wheelchair Nebraska Program offers women who use wheelchairs an opportunity to receive recognition for personal and professional accomplishments and to serve as a spokesperson for all people with disabilities. The program's emphasis is on the capability, productivity and creativity of individuals with disabilities. It serves as a means by which to educate the public regarding the basic value and abilities of people with disabilities, as well as the importance and need for eliminating architectural barriers. * * * * via Google Maps View Larger Map
